About Me

- John Wooden
If you can get behind the concept that you should be paid for the results of your work and your work is accumulative instead of a one time use of your time, then this is the perfect business model for you.
If you can get behind the idea that a good business is measured by improving the lives of other people, then you already know what it takes to become successful. After that, it is just the details.
Isagenix is built on a business model called network marketing. There are other names for that of course; MLM, multi level marketing, relationship marketing, etc, but they all come down to the same model.
If you are unfamiliar with this industry, please just take a little time and check out this site - www.30sec-commute.com. This is a third party site (not made for or by Isagenix) that breaks down the business model very well.
There are many companies that use this business model. Like any business - there are good companies, bad companies and many in between.
There is no real trick to find a company that can help you make the most of your time and efforts. There are several things that you can look for in the company and the product. These revolve around making your business easier for you to build, make it more profitable for you while you do it and make it stable enough to pass it on to your children.
First - Ownership / Executive Staff - The people in charge of a networking company really have to know their stuff. They have to be strong business people. If you are going to spend time building a business, you will want that business to be stable and efficient. They also need to understand this unique industry of network marketing. Managing and motivating a team of independent business owners is an art. There is no manual (at least on that will get you through the long term) to do this. They need to understand what works and what doesn't for the people in the field.

Second - Product - The basics are simple. A product that people purchase every month means that you you can build on your accomplishments. So, you introduce a product to a friend. That is one customer. They like it and see the benefit, they order again the next month. That is a second order and you didn't have to do anything new. Every time you introduce a new person your building a residual income. Even if you aren't working.
From there, the product should solve a problem. When a product provides a solution it is easy to order over and over again. The more dramatic the results, the more loyal the customer. To make this even more powerful the best case scenario would be that several different problems, faced by a large group of people are addressed at the same time.

Third - Compensation - We all want to be well compensated for the work that we do. In network marketing there are many different structures for compensation 'The Compensation Plan'. Every company will always tell you they have the best comp plan. Well obviously that can't be true. But it is next to impossible to look at a comp plan and really understand if it works.
The government is very tight on income claims, as they should be. A company worth your time will have a break down of what people are making. This is a company wide breakdown not one team leader showing you a check for $25K. These may not be the easiest forms to understand, but companies that have them have a much better chance of being legit. If they are afraid to put the real figures out there chances are very good very few, if any are actually making real money.

Forth - Training - There are two ways to really look at this. If you are an industry veteran, you will already know how to do the business, but you will also appreciate the company having training in place because it frees your time up so you can concentrate more on building a business. If you are new or just haven't really reached the levels you want to, then a company wide training program helps you achieve that goal. Company and team training are complementary. Having one or the other is still a lot better than none, but there are holes that need to be dealt with and that takes time away from either your business or the free time you are probably working for in the first place.
As easy as building a business can be, it really does take work. The more you work to develop skills to improve yourself and the skills of your team, the more efficient you can be and that means more success for everyone on the team.

Fifth - Validation - Look for something outside of the company that verifies the company's success. If there are no national level publications or trust worthy sources that has something good to say about the company yet they say they are the very best, why believe them?

Joel Burris - Active member of the 'Isagenix Technical Advisory Committee' - I have been involved with the network marketing industry for over ten years, but was building businesses well before that. Coming out of the Air Force and attending college in SoCal I started with a recruiting firm. Working the tech industry, I found positions for people from support through executives all over the country.
Over the next several years I worked with company owners to open and build new offices, establish a client base and train the staff. After several successful years in the recruiting business, I branched out in the web development and design, internet marketing and business development fields. With several MLM companies as clients, the advantages of the business model became clear.
Slowly, I started building his own home based business. After working with several companies in the network marketing industry and achieving the top 2% of company earners a couple of times, the proverbial writing on the wall started to show itself with a smaller company I joined as a start up. They were not going to make it. I was not able to drop out of the company and take my team with me do to my relationship with the owners - so I chose to drop out of the game.
Instead, I started teaching BJJ in Bellevue, WA. This was pretty good timing really. After taking time off from workouts and having our first baby, I had put more than a couple of pounds on. Getting back to working out certainly helped. I dropped back down to around 190 - 195 lbs. This was a comfortable weight for me and I felt fine. I had started to get back to good eating habits and started to re-educate myself in nutrition. So many theories have changed since college;)
With my growing family and a desire to both have the toys and freedom I enjoyed before family life and a deep desire to be with my daughter in here most formidable years, I started researching businesses that I could work. I contacted the owners and team leaders of networking companies that I had worked with in the past, but I wasn't coming up with much that got me excited. Another something juice or product I had no interest in. So, I limited my search to products that I would take. Something that I would want my family to take. There were several options initially, but after trying things out, talking to company and its leaders and learning more about the philosophy behind product and business there was clear winner - Isagenix.
From there it is easy to see there really isn't anywhere else to invest my time and relationships.
